I Can't Stop This Train I'm On

Whew. February was QUITE a month!!

Sorry it's been a hot minute since I last updated... I have been REALLY REALLY busy! Some fun, some stressful, some a little of both ;)

I'll be honest, the only reason I even have time to update today is because I have a crazy flu bug that just WON'T QUIT! I'm sick of being sick :( 

I am having some difficulty being coherent today... So I will just share a few pictures to keep you visually updated!

I celebrated an early Valentine's Day with my boo, Matt Nathanson, and BBK <3 It was a night of McNellies, McDreamies, and LOVE! I couldn't have asked for a better VaGALentine than Kaia! That girl keeps me from being an old granny and I love her for it!

A few days later, I started my job back up at J2CREW!! I was so happy to get back with the crew, kiddos, and JEN!! I have missed her so much <3 Yes, yes, this DOES mean that I now work 3 jobs again... but who cares? I LOVE IT. There is nothing more rewarding than smiling kiddos.

Luckily, I still have time to get my Old Gregg face on with BBK! We have taken a liking to "Face Mask Friday"... which basically means we sit around, eat entire bags of jelly beans and doritos, watch kiddie movies, and replenish our faces with some sort of chocolate concoction! It's the best way to end the school week!

One thing I miss about being in Wales is having the time to cook!! So I've decided that I'm going to make myself (and whoever wants to join me) some kind of delicious meal at least once a week. I made this delicious Salmon with a brown sugar-teriyaki glaze about a week ago for my family, and it was MM MM GOOD! It's topped with fresh pineapple and red onions and served with a side of rice. We were also in a blueberry abundance, so I made blueberry balsamic salad and a wonderful blueberry crisp for dessert. <3 I've got to get a house so I can start throwing dinner parties again!! Too much food for just a few people!

This is what has been keeping me busiest for the last month! I just wrapped a production of 'Night Mother at RSU and BOYYY was that stressful. It was rewarding... but stressful. I'm very proud of the outcome and I certainly am missing seeing those two lovely ladies on a daily basis.

This may be one of my favorite accomplishments of this last month... Our Glitz, Glam, and Gypsy event was the most successful day of business in the history of Gypsy Rose!! We all worked our buns off... but it paid off! What an amazing team of Gypsy Girls we have!! I don't know what I would do without Missy and I'm so thankful we've got Avery now too!! <3

This past weekend was spent in Dallas, TX for the Alpha Sigma Alpha District 7 conference. Here I am with the two lovely chicas who were President after my term. Now we just need Paula and Hope to complete the picture. Even though I was sick all weekend, it was wonderful to spend time with my Alpha Sigs. Nothing is better than sisterhood.

SOMETHING IS MISSING!!! I went to lay on the couch this morning... and they were gone! No worries, though, they weren't stolen... just pawned off on the ole Craigslist to make room for the new furniture coming this week. Although I was a little displeased to see them gone (in that particular moment) I am happy to be getting new couches!!

I'm really excited for this next month... I WILL BE DIRECTING MY FIRST EVER SHOW!!! <3 I will also be keeping a blog to guide first time directors through the process... or just keep myself entertained ;) So, be looking forward to that.

You're Mississippi and I'm Oregon

THIS WEEKEND WAS PROBABLY THE BEST WEEKEND OF MY LIFE.

Whoah.

Saturday night I went to Oklahoma City with my honey boo boo child to see MAT KEARNEY!!! AHHHHHH. Talk about amazing and a half. I mean, when Mat Kearney jumps off the stage and makes his way to YOU... that's something. I would like to think I fulfilled a large portion of my dreams in that moment.

It was an amazing night before that, though.

We started the night off at our favorite Mickey D's... where we are VERY loyal McGriddlers... and the nice manager gave us our food for free! CHICKEN NUGGETS FO FREE?! YES PLEASE. AAAAAND now you get apple dippers AND fries with yo kids meals, which is like... hittin' the jackpot in itself.

So, alas, we were on our journey to see Mat!!! We shuffled the ole iPod for most of the drive and I think the passer-bys thought we were just about crazy with a side of nuts! We almost got hit by a handful of Semis on the drive there... which was terrifying. BBK drives a tiny little crossfire and no one can ever see us!!

We finally made it safely to the show around 7:30... where we enjoyed Graham Colton, Robert Francis, and yes... Mat Kearney.

Can I just tell you the most amazing part of all, though? About 1/3 in to his set, Mat comes walking down into the audience... RIGHT OVER TO KAIA AND ME. Mind you, we are like 20 people deep... but he wiggled his way RIGHT OVER TO US. It was probably one of the best moments of my life. I mean... besides the time Taylor Hanson sang "Lets get it on" to me... but that's another story that I will fabricate at a later date.

The show was outstanding. The set was amazing. I danced, I cried, I sang.... and mostly I was in awe of all of the talent in the room. LOVE ME SOME M.K. <3

After the show, we drove to Norman for a night of slumber partyingwith Seanie Boo!! It is always nice to be with people you love... and Sean is definitely a chart topper. We have been friends for six years now... which is just CRAZY to me!!! I love this kid.

After a long night of fish tacos and snuggling, we set our sights back toward Tulsie-town... but not before we stopped at this incredible little sanny shop called "Pickleman's".

As the road trip came to an end... I could only think one thing... "Matt Nathanson is going to have to wine and dine me next Sunday to top my Mat Kearney experience". Yeah, two Mat(t)s in a month? I think this might be the best month of all time.

I Have Grown Two Broad Wings And Now I'm Above You

It's been kind of a rough and tumble week.
It all started with about 78 tiny aliens stabbing me in the stomach with itty bitty sporks (and while this sounds sort of fun, it's NOT at all). Then, they started crawling up toward my heart and poking around for any stragglers... aaaand by mid-week the little aliens had made their way up to my neck and noggin, rendering me only slightly able to move. I ended up back at the Doc's for my ever-obnoxious back and neck issues, which are always just a pleasure to deal with... NOT! The tiny aliens lingered on my shoulder blades during rehearsal for 'Night Mother... but they slowly started dying off. Thanks to a modified medicine regemine, things in my back and neck started feeling better, but I still felt the little aliens hanging around the heartbeat cafe. Growing up is a hard thing to do... especially when everyone around you is in such a hurry to... and you're just not ready yet.
I guess this all goes back to one of the first posts I made on this blog... and I know that when I'm "thirty, flirty, and thriving" I will be SO thankful that I left my empty converse to dry in the concrete alone... it's just all of the stuff between now and then that can be a little hard on the ole ticker.
Luckily, my best friend Maren came back from INDIA today... so I will get to see her smilin' face tomorrow after work! She always makes my day about 147 x better!!!

About a week ago I took a much needed girls night out!! Even though we'd just gotten off work, it was SERIOUSLY time for some chips, salsa, and chatting =)

Talk about a stressful week!
I'll spare you the grits and gravy, but essentially... I have been working 3 jobs, going to 2 colleges (both full time... one in finals week), rehearsing for a show that goes up in less than a month, and still trying to have a social life! It's been crazy!!! But, as promised, no(t too many) complaints...
I want to bounce a stupid idea off y'all... Basically, I am wanting to do a video compilation of weird stuff I do while I'm driving. The idea hit me when I was cutting a chicken while driving earlier this week. I know, I know... please don't tell the cops or the animal patrol. I wasn't actually SHANKING a live chicken... but I was cutting my dinner while driving. (I know, I know... don't tell my mom either).
Anyway, I've decided I'm really good at doing things while I drive... mostly just talking to myself and pretending I'm Whitney Houston. So, what do you think? Good idea? Or would I just be embarassing myself by showing everyone my awesome skillllz?
I know it's been a while since I last yammered at'cha... so of course, there was a little fun in the mix since then... mostly between the hours of 4 AM and 6 AM when I officially enter the "crazy" state of my borderline-insomnia. However, there were some things I managed to get out and do in the last week, thankfully!

Going out on $3 burger night... and it started to SNOW! Taylor was LIVID because there was snow in his eye when I took this picture... Personally, I think it captures his inner beauty quite well ;)

This is me and BBK at Joe Mama's... eating "dirt and worms". In order to be totally accurate in our eating performance, we fed eachother the worms like mother birds.

I came home the other night to this WONDERFUL lap desk made by my daddy!! I'm excited to DIY the top... I'm thinking DECOPAUGE (or however the frick you spell that).
OK.... so I just emailed myself like 6 hilarious pictures from my iPhone... and they definitely didn't come to MY inbox... so I totally appologize to whoever they went to... ;)
